How to Prepare for Surgery
It’s natural to feel nervous about surgery. If you have any concerns, you can contact us.
- Stop smoking. Being smoke-free reduces complication risks, reduces post-procedure problems, and shortens hospital stay and recovery time.
- Inform the surgeon about your medications in advance.
- Take a two-week break from natural products and supplements, such as fish oils, fatty acid preparations, and St. John’s wort.
- You can move normally the day before surgery.
- Follow eating and drinking instructions. This is very important for anesthesia safety. If you haven’t followed fasting times, the procedure may need to be rescheduled.
- Leave valuable items at home. Bring comfortable clothes that are easy to put on when leaving for home.
